Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to get crafty and spread a little love! Whether you’re looking to decorate your classroom, create handmade gifts for friends and family, or simply enjoy a fun Valentine activity, this Valentine’s character craft is a wonderful way to express your creativity and show your affection.
Materials:
coloring supplies
scissors
brass paper fasteners
hole punch
Step 1: Color
First, print and hand out copies of the Valentine Character handout, found here. Kids can use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to color in this cute little character. Encourage your students to get creative with different patterns and designs.
Step 2: Cut
Now it’s time to grab those scissors! Carefully cut out the body, arms, and legs.
Step 3: Assemble
Grab the hole punch and brass paper fasteners for this final step. Use the hole punch to make holes wherever there are circles. There should be four on the body and one on each arm and leg. Then use the brass paper fasteners to attach the arms and legs to the body. Show your students how to carefully move the arms and legs.
Now that these cute Valentine Characters are done, there are many different things you can do with them. Hang them up on a bulletin board with a cute saying like “Love is All You Need” or “Spread Love.” Incorporate writing by having students respond to a writing prompt such as “I can spread love by…” Or have students write a kind note on the back of the character to give to another classmate, teacher, or a family member. There are endless ways to use this cute craft!
