Happy Groundhog Day. That dumb groundhog saw his shadow. Now we're stuck with 6 more weeks of winter.
There's a new page of contraction worksheets up. There's a cut-and-paste activity, a puzzle worksheet, and many others on there. Check it out.
There were lots of entries in the January Contest. Many thanks to all who took the time to submit their lesson ideas. I'm still going through them all and getting them ready to post. I will announce the winner soon.

For those of us in the USA: Have a good Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Enjoy your Monday off. :)

A new page full of phonics worksheets has been adeed to the main navigation bar. Kristen made most of them, but I made up a few too. :)
Have you seen the Sudoku for Kids page on the site yet? It's great for kids who finish their work early and have extra time.
Many people have been getting "serivce temporarily unavailable" messages when they load the site. Traffic has been pretty heavy, especially during weekday afternoon times (gee, I wonder why). It was only allowing 50 people to view the site at a given time. I've been on the phone with GoDaddy (the company who hosts the site) and I've upgraded the hosting account so that it should be able to handle more traffic. If you still see that pesky "service unavailable" message, please let me know.
I've gotten some great entries for the January Science Contest. If you haven't enetered yet, there's still a couple of weeks left. Keep the entries rolling in.

Only 2 more days until school starts up again. Enjoy the end of your Christmas Vacation (or Winter Vacation, for those in politically correct districts).
The January Contest is up. This month, all you need to do is tell me about a great Science lesson, activity, or demonstration that you do with your students. The prize is a $20 gift card for Applebee's or Target. The contest will end on or about January 30, 2008. I hope we get lots of entries this month! Good luck!!

Happy New Year! (And only a few days 'till my birthday too!)
Congratulations to Kathy in Kentucky, winner of the December 2009 contest. You can read her entry here: Teaching Math With Food. She actually entered three times and submitted three great ideas. I combined them into one and made her the winner. :) Kathy chose the Applebee's gift card as her prize. Many thanks to all who enter the contests each month!
Stay tuned for the January contest soon.

I hope you had a great holiday. Traffic to the site has been low over the past few weeks, so I assume everyone is spending time with their families and taking a break from teaching. :)
A new decimals worksheet page is up, thanks to Kristen! This is a much-needed addition to our Math resources.
Thank you to the people have recently contacted me to tell me about minor type-ohs in worksheets and minor mistakes in answer keys. I always appreciate it when people take the time to point out errors. I do my best to post error-free worksheets, but sometimes little mistakes slip through. If you see a mistake, please feel free to let me know. You can find my e-mail on the contact page.
The December contest is still up and running for another couple of days. If you follow the contests regularly, you should have an idea of what it takes to win first place. Basically, I'm looking for a dynamite Math lesson idea. Winners tend to be people who put a lot of thought and detail into their lesson description. Bonus points are given to those who send pictures or files along, though it's certainly not necessary to win. So, if you haven't already, go to the contest page and tell me about your best Math lesson idea. The best entry this month will win a $20 gift card! So far, I've gotten some excellent entries.... but none have totally blown me away yet. :)
